Kazakhstan’s government issued a draft decree on Monday to implement its reciprocal visa-free program with Morocco in accordance with an agreement signed by the two countries in September 2024.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has initiated preparatory work to adopt the government decree approving the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco on the exemption of holders of national/general civil passports from visa requirements,” Kazakhstan’s government stated.
Entitled “The Agreement on Visa Exemption for Holders of National/Ordinary Passports,” the accord is designed to reinforce bilateral relations and facilitate the mobility of nationals between both countries, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry stated in a press release. Its terms grant citizens of both countries visa-free entry, exit, transit, and temporary stay in each other’s territory, provided they hold a valid national or ordinary passport.
The maximum permitted stay is 30 days within any 180-day period from the date of entry. Any citizen intending to extend their stay beyond the permitted limit or pursue employment, education, or entrepreneurial activities must obtain the necessary visa from the appropriate diplomatic mission or consular office.
The agreement enters into force 30 days after both parties complete their internal procedures and send a formal letter of approval through diplomatic channels. This is Kazakhstan’s first step in that process.
In addition to finalizing implementation of the agreement, the ministers reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and discussed future avenues for collaboration in political, trade, economic, investment, and cultural-humanitarian sectors.
