French construction giant NGE has landed a significant rail infrastructure contract in Morocco, marking its first venture into the country’s railway sector, according to a recent statement from the company.
The deal focuses on modernizing and extending the conventional rail line between Casablanca’s Oasis district and Nouaceur.
Valued at approximately USD 106 million, the project is part of Morocco’s broader plan to expand capacity along the Kenitra-Marrakech corridor. The improvements aim to prepare the network for integration with Morocco’s future high-speed rail (TGV) system.
NGE leads the project with its consortium partners TSO, the main contractor, and TSO Catenaires. Their work will connect the stations of Casa Sud, Sidi Maarouf, Bouskoura (with a link to the TGV line), Nouaceur, and Mohammed V International Airport, which serves as a major TGV hub.
The 40-month project includes tasks such as track removal and installation (using ballast and concrete), catenary system installation, earthworks, platform construction, drainage, roadwork, and various civil engineering tasks.
NGE’s presence in Morocco dates back to 1990 when it began focusing on road infrastructure. Over time, the company expanded into public works and large-scale construction projects in the North African country.
