Syria’s former toppled ruler, Bashar al-Assad, has been reportedly poisoned on Sunday while in hiding in Moscow, according to sources cited by The Sun newspaper.
According to the “General SVR” X account, allegedly owned by a former top spy in Russia, Bashar suddenly began to “cough violently and choke” at his undisclosed residence in Moscow.
“Assad complained to security guards about indisposition and breathing problems and asked to call for medical help,” General SVR said.
Assad allegedly received medical attention in his room after his health deteriorated, dealing with shortness of breath, headaches, and abdominal pain, according to the same source.
“While the medics were rendering first aid to Assad, an order was received to treat him at home if possible and not to place the “patient” in a hospital,” General SVR added.
