Morocco recorded 78,244 newly established businesses during the first ten months of 2024, according to the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC).
OMPIC’s Business Creation Dashboard shows that commerce dominated the sectors, accounting for 34% of new businesses. Construction and real estate activities followed with 19%, while services represented 18%.
Other notable sectors included transport at 8%, industry at 7%, hospitality at 5%, information technology at 2%, financial activities at nearly 2%, and agriculture and fisheries at 1%.
Morocco’s business hub Casablanca-Settat led the charge with over 24,500 businesses. Casablanca was far ahead of other regions namely, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima with 11,328. Rabat-Salé-Kénitra ranked third with 9,121, followed by Marrakesh-Safi (8,875) and Fez-Meknes (5,409).
Other regions also contributed significantly, including Souss-Massa (5,323), the Oriental region (4,588), and Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (3,083).
