Moroccan expert Khadija Bendam has been appointed First Vice President of the International Nuclear Societies Council (INSC) for one year on Wednesday.
Her term as First Vice President will last one year and conclude with the council’s General Assembly in Vienna, which will coincide with the 69th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Representing “Women in Nuclear-Global,” she became the first woman to hold the prestigious position.
The INSC represents over 80,000 professionals in the nuclear sector. “This is a remarkable opportunity to serve, make an impact, and contribute to the growth and success of the International Nuclear Societies Council,” Bendam said.
She highlighted the honor of being a Moroccan woman entrusted with such a significant role, noting Morocco’s growing influence on the international stage.
“This appointment not only reflects the leadership of Morocco but also enhances its regional and global standing,” she added.
“I look forward to collaborating with my fellow leaders to drive meaningful progress and advance our global nuclear sector.”
The INSC, recognized as a non-governmental organization by the IAEA and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), serves as a global forum for discussions and collective goal-setting among nuclear societies. It also advocates for the interests of professionals in the sector.
Founded in 1990, the influential organization brings together nuclear societies worldwide.
