The Israeli Liaison Office in Morocco’s Rabat confirmed on Friday that Hassan Kaabia, Deputy Head of the Diplomatic Mission, has left, stating that the decision was made for “strictly personal reasons.”
The departure of Kaabia “follows reactions triggered by certain past statements and positions, which led him to step down from his role,” according to a source from the office, who also asserted that the administrative change “does not reflect any internal tensions or dysfunctions within the institution.”
“The office continues to operate normally and is in no way affected by the unfounded rumors of which it has been the target,” the source said. “It remains fully committed to its mission of strengthening collaboration between Israel and Morocco.”
The office also reiterated “its commitment to fostering a fruitful cooperation between the two countries.”
No information has yet been released regarding Kaabia’s successor.
