The capital city, Rabat, will host the opening match at the iconic Moulay Abdellah Stadium. With its attractive gardens, grand boulevards, historical and cultural landmarks including the ancient Hassan Tower and Africa’s largest theater, the “City of Lights” offers a distinctive mix of modernity and tradition.
Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city, is known for its vibrant urban charm and is home to Africa’s second-tallest tower, the Mohammed VI Tower. Not only is Casablanca a business hub of the nation but home to Mohammed V Stadium which will welcome football fans from across the globe.
Tangier, a picturesque coastal city, is home to Morocco’s largest stadium, which will serve as a central venue for the tournament. A city where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea, Tangier is renowned for its stunning beaches, vibrant art scene, and historical sites such as the Kasbah Museum.
Marrakech, a city synonymous with tourism, will host matches in Africa’s first American-style Sky Box stadium. Known as the “Red City,” Marrakech attracts visitors with its historic medina, bustling souks, and architectural gems such as the Koutoubia Mosque and Majorelle Garden. Its lively atmosphere and luxurious accommodations combined make it a favorite among travelers.

The country will host a total of 24 teams for AFCON. The participating countries are Morocco, Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Comoros, DR Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Morocco’s hosting of AFCON 2025 and the 2030 FIFA World Cup has driven significant investments in infrastructure and tourism. The Moroccan government plans to double airport capacity, increasing annual passenger throughput from 38 million to 80 million by 2030.
The expansion of the high-speed rail network, set to connect 43 cities by 2040, further aims to improve accessibility.
Tourism in Morocco has reached new heights, with 15.9 million visitors in the first 11 months of 2024. The government seeks to add 150,000 new hotel beds by 2030 and diversify offerings through theme parks, cultural routes, and gastronomy trails.
The goal is to attract 26 million visitors annually by 2030 and rank among the world’s top 15 tourist destinations.
The Kingdom also plans to expand air travel capacity, support regional development, and transition from destination-based to experience-driven tourism.
Despite setbacks, including the catastrophic 2023 earthquake, Morocco has demonstrated resilience, maintaining strong tourism numbers through effective management, national solidarity, and its reputation as a welcoming country for all.
