Morocco’s national men’s and women’s karate teams secured third place at the Arab Karate Championships, which concluded Saturday in Amman, Jordan, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
The Moroccan athletes earned a total of 20 medals— six gold, four silver, and ten bronze—after a successful run in the tournament.
The Moroccan gold medals went to Said Oubaya (-67 kg), Ilyas Laafou (+70 kg), Ahmed Haddadi (-60 kg), Souhaib Azizou (-57 kg), and Wadie Bennouri (-61 kg) in kumite, and Adam Rachouk in kata. Nissrine Brouk (-68 kg), Chaimae Hayati (-55 kg), and Ahmed Haddadi (-60 kg) in kumite, and Tijani Lamoum in kata won silver medals.
The bronze medalists included Douae Choukri (-61 kg) in both senior and U21 categories, Salma Sour (-55 kg), Rabie Zaoudi (-68 kg), and Roumaissae Tarkou (-53 kg) in Kumite, as well as Aya En-Nesyry, Israe El Kahri, and Tijani Lamoum (juniors), Adam Rachouk (juniors).
Egypt dominated the competition with 51 medals, including 32 gold, 13 silver, and six bronze, while host nation Jordan finished second with 91 medals, including 15 gold, 25 silver, and 51 bronze.
