Moscow’s Tagansky District Court has imposed a RUB 3 million (USD 29,200) fine on TikTok, citing a violation of Russia’s rules on restricting access to information, the court’s press service confirmed to TASS.
“By decision of the Tagansky District Court, TikTok Pte Ltd was found guilty of an administrative offense under Part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Russian Federation’s Code of Administrative Violations. The offense involved non-compliance with regulations governing the restriction of access to certain information and information resources as mandated by Russian law. The court imposed a fine of RUB 3 million,” the press service stated.
This is the third time in 2024 that TikTok has been penalized under similar charges. The platform was fined RUB 4 million (USD 38,278) in both July and November this year, bringing its total fines for the year to RUB 11 million (USD 105,260).
