Morocco’s men’s and women’s karate teams secured eight medals—two gold, three silver, and three bronze—on Friday, the first day of the Arab Championship in Amman, Jordan.
Said Oubaya (-67 kg) and Adam Rchouq claimed gold in the Kumite and Kata categories, respectively.
The silver medals went to Chaimae Elhayti (-55 kg), Ahmed Haddadi (-60 kg) in Kumite, and Tijani Lamoum in Kata.
Bronze medals were awarded to Doae Choukri (-61 kg) and Salma Sour (-55 kg) in the Kumite category, while Aya En-Nesyry secured one in the Seniors Kata category.
Tijani Lamoum and Adam Rchouq represent the Kingdom in the Kata division, while Aya En-Nesyry and Safae El Kahri compete in the women’s division.
For Kumite, the Moroccan men’s team features Mehdi Sriti (-84 kg), Said Oubaya (-67 kg), Ahmed Haddadi (-60 kg), Wadie Benouri (-61 kg), Rabie Zaoudi (-68 kg), Souhaib Azibou (-57 kg), and Ilyas Laafou (+70 kg).
The women’s Kumite team includes Doae Choukri (-61 kg), Roumayssae Tarikou (-53 kg), Nisrine Brouk (-68 kg), Salma Sour (-55 kg), and Chaimae Elhayti (-55 kg).
Running through Saturday, the Arab Championship brings together competitors from Iraq, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and host country Jordan.
