The Moroccan cyclist Achraf Ed-Doghmy won the bronze medal on Thursday during the first day of the 13th Arab Track Championships, held from December 26-28 in Cairo.
The gold and silver medals went to Emirati cyclists Abdellah El Hamadi and Saif Al Kaabi, respectively, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
The Moroccan national team participating in the tournament includes cyclists El Houcine Sabahi and Idriss El Alouani, with coach Abdelaati Saadoune leading the team. Mohammed Katim, vice-president of the Royal Moroccan Cycling Federation (FRMC) and member of the executive committee of the Arab Cycling Union, is heading the national delegation.
In addition to the Moroccan team, national teams from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Algeria, Tunisia, Bahrain, and host country Egypt are participating in the competition, including 150 cyclists and administrative and technical staff.
Ed-Doghmy and Rajae Chakir were crowned Arab champions during the 11th Arab Track Championships, also held in Cairo, in October 2022.
