Morocco is among more than 20 countries that have expressed interest in joining the BRICS group, Russia’s President’s International Affairs Advisor, Yuri Ushakov, announced at a press conference on Monday.
At the Kazan Summit in October, members signed an agreement to establish “a new category of partners within the organization, allowing them to participate in high-level discussions and contribute to policy documents.”
Given Morocco’s strong ties with Russia and its growing global influence, this expansion could offer an opportunity for the country to strengthen its position in international trade and diplomacy.
The possibility of a meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, following Trump’s upcoming assumption of office, has generated significant interest. “Morocco, with its active diplomatic engagement, could be considered as a host for several BRICS-related meetings.”
BRICS, a group of major emerging economies, is preparing to welcome new partners to enhance its economic and strategic ties with key global powers.
