Azerbaijan and Morocco are set to bolster their defense cooperation through a draft law, “On the Approval of the Agreement on Military Cooperation in the Field of Defense,” discussed during Tuesday’s session of the Milli Majlis’ Defense, Security, and Counter-Corruption Committee, Azeri News Agency “APA” reported.
The partnership was further cemented at the 7th Annual Marrakech Airshow, where Morocco signed new defense agreements with Azerbaijan late October.
Abdeltif Loudyi, Morocco’s Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of the National Defense Administration, hosted Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hassanov at the signing ceremony in Marrakech.
In addition to defense collaboration, cultural exchanges between the two nations are also flourishing. Azerbaijani Ambassador to Morocco, Nazim Samadov, announced in late November the upcoming Azerbaijani Films Week in Morocco.
The relationship between Morocco and Azerbaijan extends to political and associative domains. Morocco’s political, media, and civil society actors followed Azerbaijan’s recent parliamentary elections closely, underscoring democratic principles and cooperation. Badiaa Radi, President of the Association of Moroccan and African Women Writers, praised Azerbaijan’s legislative progress in an interview with Azeri media outlet “Azertac.”
Radi emphasized Azerbaijan’s advances in territorial integrity and democratic development as pivotal for the country’s future and its collaboration with Morocco. She highlighted the strategic partnership between the Moroccan and Azerbaijani parliaments, which spans academic, cultural, scientific, and political fields. Radi also stressed the vital role of media in fostering mutual understanding and cultural exchange between the two nations, citing their rich cultural heritage as a foundation for deeper ties.
Marking a milestone in their 32-year diplomatic relationship, Morocco and Azerbaijan waived visa requirements for their citizens starting August 28 , according to a statement from the Moroccan Embassy in Azerbaijan. This initiative aims to enhance interpersonal connections and further strengthen bilateral relations.
