The Mohammed VI Foundation for Social Works for National Police Personnel demonstrated an “unwavering commitment” to supporting active and retired police officers, as well as their families during 2024, according to the end-of-year report released by Morocco’s National Police (DGSN) on Tuesday.
The foundation provided direct financial and material assistance to 1,610 beneficiaries, including officers who had suffered severe injuries in the line of duty or faced critical illnesses. Such cases were addressed through expedited procedures.
On religious holidays throughout the year, the foundation distributed direct financial support and shopping vouchers to 4,351 widows and 601 retired police officers receiving pensions.
The foundation provided exceptional financial aid to 371 officers and their families grappling with serious illnesses. Each recipient received up to MAD 20,000 to help cover the high costs of medical treatments to ease their financial burdens and improve their quality of life.
The foundation further expanded its support for officers performing the pilgrimage, with 365 beneficiaries fully or partially sponsored, including 230 who received comprehensive coverage and 135 who received partial assistanceup from a total of 127 the previous year.
Summer recreation programs also significantly increased, with 3,582 children and orphans of police officers enjoying summer camps in locations such as Agadir, Buznika, Ifrane, and Tetouan. For the first time, the DGSN held free summer camps in cities such as Bouznika and Chefchaouen for 57 families of officers who had died on duty. Construction also began on a new summer resort in Martil, exclusively for police families.
To support educational excellence, the foundation held its second annual “Excellence Awards” ceremony, granting sustained scholarships of MAD 10,000 annually for five years to 12 outstanding students. It also provided financial rewards to 109 high school graduates who had achieved exceptional results. The program has plans to expand to 60 students annually in the coming years.
The foundation also launched partnerships with top academic institutions to provide scholarships and tuition discounts of up to 50% for children and orphans of police officers. The agreements should increase access to higher education for deserving students.
This year, police officers excelling in artistic and sports competitions received recognition during the Excellence Awards ceremony. The foundation awarded financial prizes to winners of a fine arts competition, where 47 police officer participants showcased 87 artworks judged by Morocco’s Ministry of Culture. The foundation is currently creating a registry of creative police officers to encourage participation in future cultural and sports events.
The foundation signed new agreements with insurance companies, clinics, and national enterprises to offer discounted health and commercial services to officers and their families. The agreements include special rates for telecom services, adding to a growing portfolio of benefits available to police families.
The DGSN also launched a dedicated service portal, www.fmsn.gov.ma, to enhance communication with beneficiaries. Available in Arabic and French, the portal provides an updated overview of the foundation’s activities and services.
The National Police Health Inspectorate continued implementing its “Health 2026” action plan, which focuses on preventive healthcare, proactive health initiatives, and diverse medical services. In 2024, it provided 172,478 medical consultations, including general medicine, occupational health, dentistry, and psychological support.
The health department also conducted 1,422 medical inspections of detention facilities and contributed significantly to national blood reserves through blood donation campaigns involving 8,502 officers.
