Morocco Secures Second Place in the 5th MENA Nations Cup for Karting, held from December 17-21 at the Lusail Circuit in Qatar trailing Lebanon by seven points and finishing ahead of the United Arab Emirates.
The International Automobile Federation (FIA) sponsored the competition and featured participants from 16 countries with over 150 competitors from Morocco, Qatar, Algeria, Egypt, Bahrain, Turkey, Oman, Palestine, Syria, Iran, Kuwait, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, and the UAE.
Moroccan drivers secured podium finishes four times over the five days of events, according to the Royal Moroccan Federation of Motorsport (FRMSA).
In the endurance category, the duo of Moroccans Othmane Benhayoun and Reda Benaidy secured first place, ahead of the United Arab Emirates and Algeria. Morocco’s Anis Tazi came second in the Senior Max category, while Al Mahdi Kadiri finished third in the R390 Sprint category.
Nahyl El Gahoudy started in the last position and made a spectacular recovery to finish third in the Micro Max category.
Morocco has secured its third podium finish in five tournaments of the MENA Nations Cup, solidifying its status as one of the region’s top teams, according to the federation.
The FRMSA held an annual national karting championship, including the 4-stroke event, to make the sport more accessible to a wider audience.
