Casablanca Police, in collaboration with the National Police (DGSN), arrested a 31-year-old man on Sunday night for allegedly injuring four people in a hit-and-run accident and causing significant damage to a fast-food restaurant in the city.
The suspect is said to have a prior criminal record and has been wanted nationwide for alleged involvement in two cases related to illegal drug trafficking and psychotropic substances.
According to police preliminary investigations, on Sunday night the man was driving a rental car through the drive-thru lane at a fast-food restaurant when he got into an argument with employees regarding traffic congestion in the designated drive-thru area. The altercation escalated, and the suspect then deliberately rammed his car into four employees and damaged the restaurant’s glass facade.
The suspect fled on foot, abandoning the rental car used in the attack. After further inquiries, police identified and apprehended the suspect in another vehicle, allegedly finding 44 doses of “bofa” (a narcotic drug), pieces of cannabis resin (hashish), and a sum of money suspected to be proceeds from drug sales.
The suspect is now in custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.
