The regional judicial police services of Nador in northeastern Morocco, in coordination with their counterparts in Oujda, arrested a 30-year-old man on Saturday for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking and implication in a hit-and-run incident related to a road accident, according to media reports.
The suspect, known for his prior criminal record, was injured in a public road accident, which caused a collision between his motorcycle and a car.
While being transported to the hospital by a civil rescue ambulance, two vehicles intercepted the convoy, allowing the injured man to escape with the help of their occupants.
Police identified and arrested the suspect in Oujda, where his accomplices had transported him using a private ambulance.
Due to his injuries, the suspect has been placed under medical supervision at a hospital. Meanwhile, his brother and the private ambulance driver are in custody under the supervision of public prosecutor’s office.
