Populous, a US-based architecture firm specializing in sports infrastructure, is designing several stadiums for the 2030 and 2034 FIFA World Cups, including renovation projects like Meinau Stadium in Strasbourg.
In an interview with 20 Minutes, François Clement, President of Populous France, said the Hassan II Stadium in Casablanca is being designed to meet FIFA’s strict requirements. He noted the stadium will accommodate 115,000 spectators and include facilities to host the 2030 World Cup final.
Clement also discussed the Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, which is being prepared to host semifinal matches. “Both stadiums are planned to fully comply with FIFA’s standards, ensuring their readiness for high-profile events,” he said.
Clement highlighted other renovation projects in Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, mentioning that “while these upgrades will align with FIFA’s guidelines, some compromises may be needed.”
The Hassan II Stadium in Casablanca and the Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat are set to become state-of-the-art venues, showcasing Morocco’s role as a co-host of the 2030 World Cup.
