The Brazilian Federal Revenue Agency (RFB) announced that it foiled an attempt to smuggle approximately 134 kg of cocaine Wednesday heading to Morocco, during a joint operation involving the Brazilian Navy, police, and port authorities of the Port of Santos.
RFB said in a statement that the drugs were hidden inside the “sea chest” of a ship. The authorities found 100 cocaine packages, along with a glock firearm and ammunition magazines.
Earlier this month, Brazilian police intercepted an attempt to smuggle over a ton of cocaine at the Port of Itapoá, located in the southern state of Santa Catarina. The operation targeted a Liberian-flagged ship en route to Morocco.
Similarly, in November, Brazilian customs authorities confiscated approximately 600 kg of cocaine at the Port of Santos. The illicit cargo was discovered aboard a commercial vessel also destined for Morocco, with a subsequent stop planned in Portugal.
