Morocco and Spain are experiencing the “best moment of their bilateral relations,” Spain’s Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares said on Wednesday in Madrid.
Speaking before the Spanish Congress of Deputies, Albares highlighted the critical and mutually beneficial nature of the two countries’ partnership.
“Our relations with Morocco are vital and advantageous for both nations,” he said, underscoring the importance of the countries security cooperation in combating human trafficking networks and dismantling terrorist cells.
Albares applauded the gains from the joint roadmap, describing them as “entirely positive and extremely beneficial” for both sides.
In 2023, trade between the two nations reached over EUR 21 billion, with nearly 17,000 Spanish companies exporting to Morocco and more than 4,000 Spanish businesses operating within the country.
Morocco and Spain are now bolstering security efforts to prepare for their joint hosting of the FIFA 2030 World Cup with Portugal.
