Morocco’s police intercepted a shipment of 3.96 tons of cannabis in an operation carried out early Wednesday morning.
Officers from the judicial police in Beni Mellal, working closely with the national police (DGST), carried out the operation on a rural farm near Souk Sebt Oulad Nemma.
Authorities arrested a 35-year-old suspect at the scene. The raid uncovered the massive drug shipment stored in a warehouse on the farm. Police also seized two cargo vehicles and a sum of cash believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking.
The suspects are in custody, following directives from the public prosecutor’s office. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects, who have been identified by the authorities.
