French construction group Nouvelles Générations d’Entrepreneurs (NGE) announced on Tuesday that it had secured its first railway contract in Morocco for Lot 3 of the expansion project for the rail line connecting Kenitra and Marrakech and the development of hubs in Casablanca, as part of Morocco’s broader high-speed rail (LGV) project.
Overseen by Morocco’s railways office (ONCF), that project focuses on rehabilitating conventional rail infrastructure to accommodate the future LGV, while boosting the capacity of existing lines.
The NGE consortium—comprising TSO, TSO Caténaires, and NGE Maroc—will carry out a wide range of work. This includes removing and installing new railway tracks (ballast and concrete), civil engineering, digging, platform development, drainage systems, and installing overhead catenary systems.
The project spans the Oasis business district in Casablanca to Nouaceur and will serve five key stations, including Nouaceur Ville and Mohammed V International Airport. These upgrades will ensure seamless interconnection with the future LGV, strengthening regional mobility and advancing a sustainable, low-carbon transport network.
Jean Bernadet, President of NGE, highlighted the significance of the contract. “Supporting Morocco in developing infrastructure to serve its dynamic economy is a major ambition for NGE.
By participating in this significant project, we are fulfilling our commitment to building sustainable, low-carbon mobility solutions that address ecological transition challenges.”
NGE has been active in Morocco since 1990, initially focusing on road infrastructure. Over the years, the group has expanded its experience into public works and construction. Its notable achievements in Morocco include the Tanger Med Port Viaduct, wastewater treatment plants in Marrakech and Fquih Ben Salah, and the seawater desalination project in Jorf Lasfar.
In recent years, NGE has pursued strategic diversification, acquiring Avanzit Technologies Maroc in 2023 to expand into telecommunications, and entering the water management sector through Sade Maroc in March 2024.
