Morocco’s King Mohammed VI conveyed condolences and solidarity to France’s President Emmanuel Macron following Cyclone Chido’s catastrophic impact on the Mayotte archipelago.
“I was deeply moved to learn of the devastating passage of Cyclone Chido over Mayotte,” the King stated in his message.
The Sovereign expressed his sympathies, noting, “In this painful moment for your Nation, I offer you, and through you to the French people and the bereaved families, my sincere condolences and the expression of my profound compassion.”
He also offered support for those injured and displaced by the disaster, adding, “The Kingdom of Morocco shares the grief of your friendly nation and assures it of its full solidarity during this ordeal.”
Four days after Cyclone Chido struck, the death toll has risen to 31, with 1,373 reported injuries. French authorities are prioritizing ensuring access to essential resources, such as water and food, for the affected population.
