Suica tweeted on X, “I had an insightful discussion with Nasser Bourita on ways we can jointly strengthen our EU-Morocco partnership in all areas contributing to mutual growth and prosperity.”

For several years, Morocco has played a key role in managing migration flows to Europe. As a transit country, it hosts thousands of sub-Saharan migrants. Between 2014 and 2022, Brussels allocated over €2.1 billion to Morocco for development and border security projects, according to media reports.
With this new agreement, the EU aims to strengthen this commitment by expanding cooperation into strategic economic and energy sectors.
