Israel’s war in Gaza has now killed over 45,000 people since the start of the 14-month-long war, Palestine’s Ministry of Health announced on Monday.
The revised death toll includes 17,000 children and does not account for the over 11,000 missing Palestinians who are thought to be trapped under the rubble.
“The amount of loss of life in Gaza is unbearable among the Palestinians who have been living through this war for more than 14 months,” Al Jazeera’s Hind Khoudary said in a report from Deir el-Balah in the center of the Gaza Strip.
The situation in northern Gaza has been especially harrowing, Khoudary said. Al Jazeera’s personnel in Gaza were targeted on Sunday in a bombing that killed 50 people, including a cameraman for the company and personnel from the Civil Defense agency.
“Constant shelling and air attacks continue—quadcopters are chasing and killing Palestinians on the streets,” Khoudary said, adding that rescuers were unable to reach people.
