Moroccans are the largest group of foreign workers contributing to the social security system in Spain, according to the most recent data published on Monday by Spain’s Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration.
At 342,318 as of the end of November, Moroccans numbered the largest group of foreign nationals actively contributing to social security, just ahead of Rumanians (336,599), the ministry said.
Colombians followed with 220,892, Italians (193,162), Venezuelans (170,925), and Chinese nationals (121,119).
The number of foreign contributors to Spain’s social security system has reached a new record, now at 2,876,972 workers, the highest for any November. Men account for nearly 1.6 million, while women make up 1.3 million.
As of the end of November, Spain’s social security system included 899,749 people from EU countries (31.3%) and 1,977,223 from non-EU countries (68.7%). Since December 2019, the number of foreign contributors has increased by 748,663, a significant 34.6%.
