Moroccan literary critic, Ibrahim Al Karawi secured third place in the fourth Sharjah Prize for Arabic Poetry Criticism for his research “The Poetics of the Trans-Genre Text: From the Obsession with Authenticity to the Question of Boundaries (Towards a Generalised Poetics),” the prize’s general secretariat announced on Sunday.
Held under the theme “The Convergence of Literary Genres in Contemporary Arabic Poetry”, awarded first place to Tunisian critic Fathi bin Belkacem Nasri, while Iraqi critic Ahmed Jarallah Yassin claimed second place.
Sponsored by Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, Governor of Sharjah, the prize seeks to advance poetic literary criticism, encourage creativity among Arab researchers, and enrich the Arab cultural landscape.
Muhammad Ibrahim Al Qasir, Director of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Secretary-General of the Prize, stated that the initiative examines Arabic poetry through a critical lens, addressing significant poetic issues with a broader thematic scope.
A total of 60 researchers submitted entries, reflecting the award’s status as a key platform for fostering critical discourse on Arabic poetry.
