A hundred members of the Syrian diaspora in Morocco gathered on Sunday in Rabat to celebrate what they view as “the long-awaited fall of the Al-Assad regime,” representing a “significant moment for their country.”
The celebration began near the Palace of Justice parking lot in Hay Riad, where participants held a parade with about 20 vehicles heading towards the Hassan district to mark the regime’s collapse.
Waving Syrian and Moroccan flags, participants expressed their joy and unity, chanting in unison to celebrate the end of a regime they described as “oppressive.”
Some participants also expressed gratitude to King Mohammed VI for providing them refuge, describing Morocco as their home and the King as their leader who offered them shelter after fleeing the hardships in Syria.
