The Moroccan karting team, reigning champions, will compete in the fifth Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Karting Nations Championship, taking place from December 17 to 21 at Qatar’s Lusail International Circuit.
The Moroccan team will compete in multiple categories, including “Micro Max,” “Mini Max,” and “Junior Max,” represented by drivers such as Nahyl El Gahoudy and Omar Bouyakoub, according to a press release from the Moroccan Federation of Motor Sports (FRMSA).
Other participants include Kamil Benchekroun, Faris Tazi, and Riyad Youssfi in “Junior Max”; Anis Tazi and Yanis Martin in “Senior Max”; Omar Benhayoun, Ghali El Fechtali, and Moulay El Mahdi Alaoui in “DD2”; and Nadir Kabbage in “DD2 Master.” The “Sprint and Endurance” category features Tarik Almou, Ilies Fouquet, Mahdi Kadiri, Hamada Erquizi, Reda Benaidy, and Othmane Benhayoun.
The FRMSA has confirmed that the drivers have undergone extensive preparation by competing in national and international karting competitions throughout the past year. In addition to defending its title, the federation is committed to providing young Moroccan drivers with essential international experience to further their professional development.
The Moroccan delegation, including technical and medical staff, departed for Qatar on Saturday.
Morocco secured the championship, outperforming teams from the UAE and Qatar, who finished second and third, respectively, in the past edition.
The competition features eight categories, beginning with “Micro Max” for drivers aged 8 to 11 and culminating in “DD2 Masters” for those over 31 years old.
