Morocco’s Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi and Kazakhstan’s Prosecutor General Berik Asyłow signed three key agreements on Thursday in Rabat to enhance international judicial cooperation in the area of criminal justice.
The agreements will strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and improve legal and judicial cooperation,reflecting both nations’ commitment to addressing challenges related to organized crime and terrorism while promoting the exchange of information and expertise to boost regional and international security.
The first agreement focuses on judicial assistance in criminal matters, enhancing coordination in investigations and evidence collection.
The second agreement addresses the transfer of prisoners, allowing convicted criminals to serve their sentences in their home countries to improve reintegration chances.
The third agreement deals with the extradition of criminals, crucial for combating cross-border crime and ensuring justice in accordance with national and international laws.
Minister Ouahbi highlighted that the new agreements represent a significant step forward in the cooperation between the two nations and their shared commitment to strengthening justice, the rule of law, and combating crime.
He expressed pride in the partnership with Kazakhstan and hopes for even more fruitful cooperation.
Kazakhstan’s Prosecutor General noted that these agreements reflect the historical ties and mutual trust between the two countries, opening new opportunities for cooperation in criminal justice.
The signing ceremony also provided a platform to discuss further measures to combat organized crime, exchange expertise, and enhance security and judicial cooperation while respecting each country’s sovereignty.
