Morocco’s millennia-old architecture took center stage on Tuesday with the release of a book entitled “Contemporary Morocco: Building A New Vernacular Architecture,” produced by Irish publishing house GRANDON and overseen by renowned photographer Daniel Holfeld.
The book highlights the generational evolution of Moroccan architecture, highlighting the influence of traditional craftsmanship on modern practices.
Morocco’s infrastructure projects, such as the Marrakech airport, the Grand Théâtre de Rabat, and the Mohammed VI Bridge, highlight the seamless blend of modern and traditional design, as illustrated in the book.
Morocco’s Ambassador to Ireland Lahcen Mahraoui described the book as “a powerful testament to Morocco’s architectural evolution.”
Holfeld, the book’s editor, highlighted that the 200-page volume, featuring 550 photographs and illustrations, celebrates Morocco’s remarkable transformation of both urban and rural landscapes over recent decades.
