In a move to strengthen efforts to preserve Moroccan and Palestinian documentary heritage and promote intercultural exchange, Morocco’s National Library and the Palestinian National Library signed a historic cooperation agreement on Wednesday in Rabat.
The acting director of the BNRM, Samira El Malizi, and the director of the Palestinian National Library, Aissa Krakaa, signed the agreement, which outlined multiple initiatives, including training programs for the Palestinian library staff on document digitization and restoration, as well as sharing Morocco’s expertise in digital archiving and preservation.
In a statement to Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP), El Malizi underscored Morocco’s commitment to preserving Palestinian cultural heritage. She noted that the BNRM’s advanced expertise in document digitization and archival preservation would play a pivotal role in safeguarding Palestine’s national manuscripts and cultural memory.
“This protocol reflects Morocco’s dedication to supporting Palestine’s efforts in preserving its documentary heritage. It also enables the Palestinian National Library to benefit from Morocco’s accumulated know-how in this critical field,” El Malizi said.
The agreement marks a significant step in strengthening the cultural ties between Morocco and Palestine while ensuring the protection and promotion of their shared documentary heritage for future generations.
