Police arrested three members of authorities in Bouarfa, northeastern Morocco, over suspicion of involvement in a kidnapping case involving violence and ransom, local media reported.
The arrested allegedly included a police inspector. The Bouarfa police were informed on November 30 that four individuals abducted a person using physical force while traveling in an off-road vehicle.
The initial investigation identified a vehicle at the crime scene, which exhibited signs of blood and contained the victim’s personal belongings.
Further investigations led to the victim, who has a criminal record related to international drug trafficking, being found handcuffed and showing signs of violence in a mountainous area on the outskirts of Bouarfa.
A fourth individual, who has been identified, remains at large as searches continue, according to security sources.
The three arrested suspects are now in custody under the Prosecutor’s Office to uncover all the circumstances of the incident, which appears to be related to financial extortion.
