The Hungarian dance ensemble Bihari János Folk Dance Ensemble lit up the stage at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat on Monday evening with a mesmerizing performance that blended traditional dance and music to celebrate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Hungary, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
With choreography executed to perfection, the Bihari János Folk Dance Ensemble transformed the Mohammed V Theatre into a hub of cultural exchange. The troupe combined the lyrics of traditional songs with the precision of their dance moves and gestures, seamlessly synchronized with the music.
Dressed in traditional Hungarian costumes, the dancers delivered a captivating and technically flawless performance, embodying grace and artistry. The troupe’s commitment to preserving and sharing Hungary’s rich cultural heritage was evident throughout the evening.
Hungary’s Ambassador to Morocco, Miklós Tromler, highlighted the troupe’s significance during the event. This year is the ensemble’s 70th anniversary, and their Rabat performance is part of a tour in which they have already performed in Agadir and Benguerir.
Ambassador Tromler said that the troupe’s global reach spans Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and it has received numerous national and international awards. The ensemble’s mission is to preserve and promote Hungary’s traditional dance and music heritage, he said.
Ambassador Tromler also highlighted the role of culture as a “tool and lever” for strengthening ties between nations. He underlined the growing friendship between Hungary and Morocco, with plans for future cultural events to further enhance bilateral relations.
The Bihari János Dance Ensemble is deeply rooted in Hungary’s folklore traditions, earning it a reputation as one of the country’s leading folk dance groups, preserving and performing Hungary’s centuries-old cultural traditions through song, dance, and educational initiatives.
