Morocco’s southern city of Agadir will host the 7th International Caricature Festival in Africa (FICA) and the International Caricature Contest of Morocco from December 12 to 15, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
Organized by the “Atlas Caricature Association” (AAC) and the newspaper “Le Canard Libéré,” this year’s festival is entitled “Food Security: The World is Hungry for Great Solutions.”
Over 411 cartoonists from around the world, including 30 from Morocco, will participate, displaying more than 1,200 works on this year’s topic, according to the organizers.
In addition to a permanent exhibition of caricatures, the display will honor Moroccan cartoonist Nourdine Bennani for his contributions to cartoons and his impact on Morocco’s cultural and media landscape.
The Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, sponsored two workshops which will be led by caricature artists including children from Morocco’s Souss-Massa region.
The event’s agenda also includes a conference on the intersection of caricature and food security.
FICA, in collaboration with the École Supérieure de l’Éducation et de la Formation of Ibn Zohr University, will also host the University Festival of Culture and Pedagogical Arts (FUCAP) on “Visual Arts and Education: Experiences and Horizons.”
