The Moroccan feature film Triple-A, directed by Jihane El Bahar, received major recognition at the Brussels International Film Festival in Dakar, held from December 3 to 7.
The film received the Best Screenplay and Best Actor awards, presented to Aziz Dadas for his performance. Triple A tells the love stories of three marginalized protagonists.
In addition to Triple-A, Morocco contributed two films to the festival’s international competition. The short film Amira, directed by Rachida Saadi, competed in the short film category, while the documentary “Cubarouis” (Morocco-Cuba) by Aziz Khoudair represented the country in the documentary category.
Filmed during the lockdown of COVID-19, “Amira” explores the complicated relationship of a couple, Amira and Karam, who lead a monotonous life with their daughter Sonia.
Festival organizers called this year’s competition a major milestone, featuring films from various countries over five days.
The festival featured the films of African and Belgian filmmakers on an international stage over five days.
