Morocco’s King Mohammed VI’s official visit to Qatar, initially scheduled for December 11, has been postponed, according to well-informed sources.
The new date for the trip will be determined after the monarch’s recovery following the surgery he had on Sunday in Rabat after sustaining a left humerus fracture during a routine sports activity.
Doctors stated that his shoulder would remain immobilized for 45 days, followed by a rehabilitation period.
Despite the medical setback, Moroccan officials reaffirmed their commitment to the King’s diplomatic programs, strengthening strategic ties with Qatar and prioritizing the visit.
Morocco and Qatar have maintained close cooperation for years, particularly in energy, investment, and culture.
Morocco benefits from Qatari investments in major infrastructure projects, and the two countries collaborate on defense and security. They also share a common vision on regional issues in North Africa and the Middle East.
Qatar has consistently supported Morocco’s initiatives globally, particularly in the Sahara regional dispute, backing Morocco’s sovereignty over the territory.
