Music mogul and billionaire Jay-Z has been implicated in the crimes of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, after another woman leveled charges against him and Diddy on Sunday, accusing them of raping her when she was only 13 years old, according to NBC News.
Identified only as “Jane Doe” in the civil lawsuit, the plaintiff claims the sexual assault took place during an after-party following the annual MTV Video Music Awards in 2000.
According to NBC News, her lawsuit was first filed in US federal court in October in the Southern District of New York, with only Combs as the defendant. It was refiled on Sunday to include Jay-Z as a co-defendant.
Reacting to the lawsuit, the rapper described the allegations as “idiotic” in a statement on Sunday.
“These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whoever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?” Jay-Z told NBC News. “These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, which prosecutes criminal cases, declined to comment on whether the office is pursuing the case when shown NBC News’ report on the lawsuit.
The lawyer for the plaintiff in the case, Tony Buzbee, has filed several lawsuits in recent months leveling claims of assault and rape against Diddy. Sunday’s amended complaint is the first time a client has named another high-profile defendant.
Meanwhile, Combs’ legal representatives issued a statement calling the suits “shameless publicity stunts, designed to extract payments from celebrities who fear having lies spread about them, just as lies have been spread about Mr. Combs.”
“As his legal team has said before, Mr. Combs has full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process. In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor,” the statement read.
The development comes as Combs faces mounting accusations. In September, federal prosecutors in New York charged the music mogul with sex trafficking, racketeering, and other offenses. The rapper is currently in pre-trial detention after the court denied bail for the third time last month. His trial is scheduled to begin May 5.
