Jacob Elordi, the star of Euphoria and Saltburn, captivated both his fans and the fashion world last week at the Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM), serving as a juror on a panel with Andrew Garfield and Luca Guadagnino, while debuting a striking new beard, according to Vogue magazine.
Elordi’s recent rise in the fashion world was marked by his appointment as a Bottega Veneta ambassador, a fitting role given his long-time affinity for the brand’s bags.
In Marrakech, the actor appreciated Morocco’s craftsmanship by visiting the rug shop of Soufiane Zarib. The store is known for its curated selection of bespoke, locally crafted rugs not only from Morocco, but also from Persia, Turkey, and the Caucasus.
A second-generation rug dealer, Zarib runs the shop in the heart of Marrakech’s historic medina. His family has been part of Marrakech’s vibrant rug trade for over two decades. The rugs sold at the store are hand-woven by local women artisans using natural materials such as wool, cotton, and silk. Many of the pieces, such as Boujad and Berber rugs, feature intricate designs and symbols deeply rooted in Moroccan culture.
The showroom’s clientele includes interior designers, art collectors, and individuals looking for unique home décor, with notable figures such as Paloma Elsesser, Harris Dickinson, and designer Kelly Wearstler among their followers.
Vogue didn’t report whether Elordi bought anything. But after his visit to the showroom generated significant buzz on social media, Zarib said there was a noticeable uptick in the shop’s engagement, leading to more interest in its collection of vintage and modern rugs.
After his visit to Zarib’s shop, Elordi attended a star-studded gala dinner at Marrakech’s Badi Palace, where he dined with fellow jurors, including filmmakers Tim Burton and David Cronenberg, and members of Morocco’s royal family.
The dinner, hosted by Prince Moulay Rachid, featured traditional Moroccan cuisine, including lamb tagine, pastilla, and couscous.
Looking ahead, Elordi will play several significant roles, including starring as Frankenstein’s monster in Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein” and “the kissing booth” for Netflix. He will also play Heathcliff in a 2025 adaptation of Wuthering Heights, directed by Saltburn’s Emerald Fennell.
Although rumors about Elordi appearing in Luca Guadagnino’s new American Psycho adaptation have circulated, Elordi himself dismissed them with a smile, adding a sense of mystery to his ever-evolving career.
