Fes hosted a ceremony on Friday to present the “Mediterranean Awards 2024” to four influential figures, including Fouzi Lekjaa and Mostapha Bousmina, for their contributions to peace, cultural development, and creativity in the Mediterranean region.
Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), and Miguel Angel Moratinos, the United Nations High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, shared the spotlight in the “Institutions” category. Their work has advanced cooperation and dialogue across borders.
Bousmina, president of the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fes, earned recognition in the “Culture” category for his role in fostering cultural exchange and innovation.
Meanwhile, Franco-Moroccan singer Françoise Atlan received the “Art and Creativity” category award, which celebrated her artistic contributions.
Presented during the “Euro-Mediterranean University Encounters on the Future of Civilizations” conference, the recognitions honored the laureates for embodying the event’s theme: “Rebuilding Trust for a United and Diverse World.”
Michele Capasso, Secretary General of the United States of the World, commended the honorees as exemplars of equity, coexistence, and creativity. “These individuals reflect the essence of our times, promoting peace and shared prosperity through their impactful actions,” Capasso said.
Established in 1995, the Mediterranean Awards annually honor leaders whose work bridges cultural divides and fosters shared values in the Mediterranean and beyond.
