The inauguration of the “Russian-Moroccan Association” international cooperation center in Rabat on Wednesday, marks a new milestone in cultural and scientific relations between Morocco and Russia.
The launch ceremony was attended by political officials and academic leaders from both countries. It also provided an opportunity to sign significant agreements.
One of the key agreements was a partnership between the “Russian-Moroccan Association” center and the Russian-African University Network (RAfU), which includes twelve Russian universities and over 30 African institutions.
This partnership aims to enable the center to represent the network in Africa and Morocco. Additionally, the center signed another agreement with St. Petersburg Technical University.
Russian Ambassador to Morocco Vladimir Baibakov highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation between Rabat and Moscow, particularly in the fields of education and culture, which are seen as crucial for developing bilateral economic and social relations.
Currently, around 35,000 African students, including a growing number of Moroccans, are studying in Russia.
This collaboration aims to bridge Moroccan and Russian cultures while providing Moroccan and African students with opportunities to explore programs offered by Russian universities, especially in technical fields, as well as to learn the Russian language and integrate into society.
The opening of this center serves as a gateway to deepening bilateral relations, particularly through tripartite partnerships between Morocco, Africa, and Russia. The project also reflects a desire to foster cultural exchanges, with the potential to establish Moroccan cultural centers in Russia in the future.
