Participants in the 48th Arab Police and Security Leaders Conference, held on Wednesday in Tunis, highlighted the need to intensify public awareness programs on cybercrime risks and equip law enforcement with the resources to combat electronic financial fraud, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
The conference also called for greater regional cooperation to address the growing threat of drug-related crimes, which undermine public health, economic stability, and youth development.
According to a statement issued by the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers on Thursday, the participants also recommended providing the necessary resources and equipment for specialized agencies to combat electronic financial fraud effectively.
The attendees underscored the critical role of media in combating drug-related issues, while commending the efforts made by Arab countries in this regard.
Security Governor Mohamed Dkhissi, the Central Director of Judicial Police and Head of Interpol Rabat, represented Morocco’s police (DGSN) and intelligence (DGST) at the conference.
Dkhissi also serves as Vice President of Interpol for Africa and the Liaison Officer at the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers.
Additionally, the participants examined a report on the activities of the Arab Police Sports Federation for 2024 and explored notable security practices from member states.
