Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of Morocco’s Police (DGSN) and Territorial Surveillance Agency (DGST) visited Belgium on Thursday to meet with his counterpart Eric Snoeck, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the sector.
Hammouchi held working sessions with Eric Snoeck, Commissioner General of the Belgian Federal Police. The discussions addressed a range of security issues of mutual interest, including emerging security threats and risks and strategies to confront them from a collective and collaborative perspective.
The visit follows Belgium’s State Security Coordinator, Francisca Bustin’s trip on November 25.
The meeting also focused on the prevalent issue of terrorist groups and organized crime networks operating in various regions worldwide, such as in the Sahel-Sahara region, the Middle East, and Europe.
Hammouchi and the Commissioner General of the Belgian Federal Police signed a joint action plan for the interim period of 2025-2026. The plan outlines collaborative programs to combat organized crime and terrorism, coordinate efforts to manage border crossings, track internationally wanted persons, and tackle money laundering.
The joint action plan also defined mechanisms for bilateral cooperation between Moroccan and Belgian security services, including approved channels for information exchange and joint visits, ensuring efficiency and the enhancement of shared security operations.
This visit underscores the robust bilateral cooperation between Morocco and Belgium in various security domains. It comes within a broader context of strengthening and expanding the existing security partnership between Moroccan and Belgian security agencies.
