Daniel Whitley, Administrator of the Foreign Service at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), arrived in Casablanca on Tuesday to launch a major trade mission supported by the USDA, according to news reports.
The mission aims to promote US agricultural and food exports to Morocco and other West African markets.
Whitley is accompanied by a delegation of nearly 50 US agribusiness companies, trade associations, and representatives from 14 state agricultural departments.
Morocco, the second-largest export market for US agriculture in Africa, is a key partner for the US.
US agricultural exports to Morocco reached USD 619 million in 2023, accounting for 16% of US agricultural exports to Africa. Since the implementation of the US-Morocco Free Trade Agreement in 2006, these exports have doubled, according to statistics released by both countries.
