Members of the Anti-Gang Unit of the Police in Agadir, in coordination with Morocco’s intelligence (DGST), arrested a 27-year-old man on Monday over suspicions of being linked to a criminal network involved in organizing illegal migration and human trafficking, according to a security source.
The police arrested the suspect while he was preparing to execute an illegal migration operation via maritime routes in exchange for money.
The police arrested 11 individuals, including four minors, who had been housed in various locations in Agadir and Inzegan. One of the migrants is subject to two national arrest warrants issued by authorities in Casablanca.
The individual is suspected of involvement in two cases related to forming a criminal gang, assault with a bladed weapon, and kidnapping.
The suspect and the other migrants are currently in custody for further investigation, while the minors remain under supervision.
