Italian manufacturer Ecoprogetti has doubled the capacity of its photovoltaic (PV) production line in Al Hoceima, Morocco, from 500 MW to 1 GW, making it the largest solar module plant in Morocco and North Africa, according to PV Magazine.
The expanded facility, operated by Almaden Morocco, now produces high-efficiency solar modules using tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) G12 18BB half-cut cells, ensuring maximum efficiency and superior quality for both the African and global markets. Ecoprogetti started the expansion in July, with the upgraded production line now fully operational.
Ecoprogetti has partnered with Almaden Morocco since 2018, when it initially delivered a 500 MW line. The company also recently launched Oman’s first solar panel production line and supplied a glass-glass solar panel production line to India’s SAEL.
