French journalist Marine Vlahovic, known for advocating for the Palestinian cause, was found dead on November 25 on the rooftop terrace of her apartment in Marseille, France, local media reported.
Marseille’s prosecutor’s office has ruled out suspicious causes after initial autopsy reports and said that toxicological analyses are underway to determine the exact cause of death.
Marine Vlahovic, 39, gained recognition for her coverage of the struggles of Palestinians in Ramallah, in the West Bank, from 2016 to 2019. She worked with outlets such as RFI, Radio France, Le Soir, and Swiss Radio Television (RTS).
After moving to Marseille in 2019, she attempted to return to Palestine and maintained contact with journalists in Gaza. In 2024, she was reportedly working on a documentary investigation of the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
