Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch is representing King Mohammed VI at the “One Water” summit in Riyadh, which kicked off on Tuesday to address global water scarcity and related challenges.
Akhannouch arrived in Riyadh on Monday evening, accompanied by Minister of Equipment and Water Nizar Baraka, where they were welcomed at King Khalid International Airport by Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayaf, Mayor of Riyadh.
The “One Water” summit, launched during the COP28 conference in partnership with Saudi Arabia, aims to strengthen global water governance and gather world leaders, policymakers, and experts to explore innovative solutions.
The summit is part of the 16th session of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (COP16) and brings together leaders like French President Emmanuel Macron, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and World Bank President Ajay Banga.
The annual forum will feature special sessions to review progress on Saudi Arabia’s “Green Initiative” and explore ways to accelerate efforts for a more sustainable future.
