Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita described the recent ceasefire in Lebanon as a “positive development,” however, he asserted that “It must be respected and strengthened to create the necessary conditions to safeguard the unity of this country and the security of its territory.”
Bourita made his remarks on Tuesday in Rabat during a meeting with Djibouti’s counterpart.
He noted that Morocco welcomes all international efforts to maintain the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.
Bourita is hopeful that the ceasefire would hold up despite “violations that have, unfortunately, been observed in its implementation by the parties involved,” the official mentioned.
“The Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, supports Lebanon’s territorial integrity and sovereignty,” Bourita underscored.
He also highlighted the necessity of resolving the Palestinian issue, calling for a two-state solution, which Bourita noted is “the best way to ensure security and stability in the Middle East.”
