Hundreds of Moroccans and Spanish citizens participated in a charity marathon on Saturday at Rabat’s Urban Forest Park (commonly known as Hilton) to support victims of the Valencia floods.
The Spanish Embassy in Morocco and the Spanish Institute Cervantes sponsored the event to raise funds for those affected by the devastating floods that struck eastern Spain, killing 229 people.
Participants included Moroccans, Spanish citizens living in Morocco, and others from various nationalities, all showing solidarity with the victims’ families and displaced citizens.
Younger participants donated MAD 50 to join the event, while adults contributed MAD 100 or more. Adults ran a 6-kilometer course, covering two laps, while children completed a 3-kilometer race.
Organizers said that all proceeds will support recovery and educational rebuilding efforts, particularly in the Valencia region.
